Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) and Svay Rieng University (SRU) have opportunities to take part in the CALOHEA project funded by ERASMUS+ and European Union in order to contribute to the internationalization of higher education institutions in South-East Asia through developing a series of interrelated measures in three Key Recognition Mechanisms. The two institutions have completed the 3RMs in the field of civil engineering for ITC and in the field of teacher education for SRU.
Regional Subject-Specific Qualifications & Assessment Reference Frameworks has been proposed in the revised version of meta-profile which was the achievement of TASE project and more consultations were done to refine by considering more stakeholders in order to produce the CALOHEA qualification framework to which all institutional teams from different countries must do a mapping of their own PLOs.
The culture of Student Workload installment was introduced and the student workload have been estimated by elaborating contextualized student workload measurement tools for the region. We were taught of 4 tools which were implemented in our current programmes and the finding were been comparable among the partner universities and European universities.
The important idea and the usefulness of Authentic Assessment is the ability to let students and learners have knowledge, skill and responsibility as if they expose to the real conditions of career and students are accustomed to the situation then confident in what have been studied. So AuA concerns a lot the courses related to technology, manipulation of laboratory tools, tests, use of machine, site management, etc. These courses need students not just understanding the theory, text notes and le but also the familiarity with the real condition when they are going to work. To assess in school, knowledge, skill and responsibility of students in the real career sites is the Authentic Assessment (AuA). Each institution has plan to implement AuA and during the implementation some challenges were met and need time to solve. We strongly hope that the AuA should continuously integrated in programmes in order to effectively educate students.
The works have been discussed and reported in a sequence of specific area group meeting, general meetings and national meetings. On 1-3 July 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, delegations from two Public Higher Education Institutions from Cambodia;
- ITC (Institute of Technology of Cambodia): Dr. HAN Virak, Mr. LY Hav, and
- SRU (Svay Rieng University): asst. prof. SIN Putheasath, vice rector and asst. prof. Dina Pen
were invited to join the CALOHEA 8th General Meeting to held. The GM8 is to finalize the results concerning impact, dissemination and sustainability and implications and recommendations for follow-up joint initiatives at institutional level and national level.
We have been satisfied with project results which allow to be able to have more cooperations with regional and international universities. The achievement of CALOHEA will not forget the contribution of our institutional teams and advisor team who provided inputs and shared divers experiences in the project.
